SPARKS marks the second collaboration (after Holy Personal) of author Laura Chester and photographer Donna DeMari. Here, prose poetry and sepia-toned photographs combine to tell a story. "THE SPARK SO quickly becomes the fire becomes you. Your face is shining with the light all around, like a mane. Aura, luster, a polished egg"--from Part One.

Laura Chester has been writing, editing and publishing since the early seventies. Author of several novels, Watermark, The Stone Baby, The Story of the Lake, and Kingdom Come, she has also edited four important anthologies, Rising Tides, Deep Down, Cradle & All, and The Unmade Bed. A collection of short stories, Bitches Ride Alone, is a personal favorite. Non-fiction works include, Primagravida, Lupus Novice, and Holy Personal, with photographs by Donna DeMari. Chester has two grown sons, and lives with her husband in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.

Donna DeMari has been shooting fashion since the late seventies. Her work has appeared in many European and American magazines, including Vogue, Elle, and Marie Claire. DeMari has lived in Milan, London and Paris, and now resides in New York State. Fascinated with the aesthetics of the equine, her horse photographs included here are from a collection of prints, Flying Mane."
